About Jeannette Martin

Jeannette Martin paints landscapes, still lives and portraits in oil and watercolor. Her paintings and etchings have been influenced by an array of artists including Hopper, Titian, Veronese and Goya.

An early passion for printmaking and story telling began to resurface during the Pandemic. After a year-long break from art she began to make etchings again as a means of finding an outlet for the confusion, disorientation and sorrow of the past two years.

Martin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.  She studied art at Bennington College and received a BA in Studio Art from CUNY. She later studied at the Art Students’ League in New York City where she was a student of Robert Beverly Hale, the celebrated teacher of art anatomy. She has taught art classes in Massachusetts and Maine, and illustrated several children’s books for the Museum of Science in Boston.

Her paintings, drawings and prints have been shown and sold at many galleries in the Northeast and are in many private collections across the U.S. and Europe. She lives in Petersham, Massachusetts and Port Clyde, Maine.
